Being Prepared for Anything: Safety & Security in the Library

  • May 30, 2019
  • 3:10 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Harrah's Waterfront Conference Center, Atlantic City, New Jersey

Hosted by the New Jersey Library Association (2019 Conference)
presented by Stevan P. Layne, CPP, CIPM, CIPI

This session addresses those threats that libraries of any size or scope may be victimized by, and the practical, cost-effective, realistic preventive measures recommended by leading experts in this field.  Whether or not the library has regular security personnel or relies on the actions of library staff to deal with problems, response (prior to calling police) should be professional and safe.  On a daily basis, all full and part time staff, volunteers, and even regular contractors should be aware of and trained in the best way to respond to a variety of incidents.  This is an audience interactive, dynamic program highly acclaimed by numerous institutions and organizations.
