Your IFCPP Conference Team is exploring several options for this year's big event. While we have the highest hopes that a live conference in Washington, DC will still be possible this October 8-13, we want to make sure that an in-person gathering will be safe, and that travel and attendance will be feasible. If we are able to conduct a live conference, we’ll plan to broadcast an online version for those IFCPP members that aren’t able to attend in person.
If a live gathering is not feasible, we plan to offer the same educational sessions, CIPM II certification courses, and other presentations virtually. We even plan to provide virtual security tours of DC cultural institutions and icons, online networking opportunities, and virtual technology and service provider exhibits. Stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks, as we all plan to re-staff and re-open our institutions.
If all goes well, the live conference will be held in at the state-of-the-art beautiful new Museum of the Bible. The core conference will run Oct 9-11, with special pre-conference cultural excursions, CIPM II certification courses on Oct 12, two days of optional CISS supervisor certification courses for your mid-level staff, and a first-of-its-kind Protecting Houses of Worship full-day post-conference symposium on Oct 13. Conference delegates can pick and choose between daily educational offerings, as well as nighttime networking receptions, museum and library tours, and much more.
This year’s big event will be the Foundation’s first weekend conference, allowing delegates to take less time away from their institutions, and reducing lodging costs by 35%. Conference partners will include several federal agencies, and out-of-the-classroom activities will include excursions to nearby museums, libraries, and other world-renowned institutions. We’re proud to highlight everything that our nation’s capital has to offer, all within walking distance of the conference hotel.
Additional program details will be available very soon. We’re finalizing our partnerships, activities, and contracts now. Registration fees for the main 3-day live event will run $495 - $695. If a virtual conference is offered in lieu of the in-person gathering, registration fees will be dependent on undetermined technology and logistical costs. Make sure to budget additional funds for certification courses, companion participation, nighttime activities, and pre/post-conference options. Given the current state of affairs, early registrations will receive discounted registration fees. We feel that it's important to do our part to help ease the impact that we're all experiencing because of the current pandemic. Additionally, we'll be waiving cancellation fees, and providing full refunds well into September.
